Context
Tate Liverpool partnered with Tiber Young People’s Steering Group to create a project centred on youth voice, creativity, and representation.
The initiative focused on engaging young people directly in the creative process providing a platform for expression while connecting grassroots community perspectives with a major cultural institution.
The aim was not only to produce artwork, but to create a meaningful exchange between participants, place, and platform.
Creative role
Lead Artist & Facilitator
Workshop development and delivery
Creative direction of final artwork
Translation of participant input into visual outcome
Execution
The project was developed through a series of collaborative workshops with young people from Tiber, creating an open environment for ideas, expression, and experimentation.
Participants contributed drawings, themes, and visual elements, which were then brought together into a unified composition balancing individual voices with a cohesive overall outcome.
The process prioritised inclusion and accessibility, allowing each contributor to shape the work while maintaining a clear visual direction.
Rather than imposing a fixed design, the artwork evolved through dialogue—reflecting the perspectives and energy of the group.
Outcome
Collaborative artwork created with Tiber youth participants
Delivered in partnership with Tate Liverpool
Engagement of young people in a structured creative process
Final piece reflecting collective input and shared authorship
Impact
The project created a space for young voices to be heard and represented through art—bridging community and institution.
By embedding collaboration at the centre of the process, the work shifts from individual authorship to collective expression, reinforcing the role of art as a tool for connection and participation.
